The world is growing closer and closer together, and communication and transport around the globe are becoming more and more efficient and cheaper – which opens up new opportunities for Germany as an exporting nation. Not only some of the DAX companies listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange, but also medium-size enterprises are the number ones on the global market where highly complex products are concerned.
But: how are they to protect their own innovations on far-off continents? With only a single application, it is possible to cover a number of countries (also outside Europe) – this is made possible by the “Patent Cooperation Treaty” (PCT).
