[ Enhancing competence ]

Knowledge management for the future.

In times of a globalised economy, it is becoming increasingly important constantly to expand one’s knowledge of the relevant legal systems outside Germany as well. The Chamber of Patent Attorneys has therefore long attached great importance to an academically sound and practically orientated system of basic and further training for patent attorneys. For this purpose, the Chamber of Patent Attorneys has initiated the establishment of innovative research institutions and courses of study.

Kurt Haertel Institut for Intellectual Property

The institute is part of the Faculty of Jurisprudence at the FernUniversität in Hagen (Distance-Learning University in Hagen) and was founded in cooperation with the Chamber of Patent Attorneys. Its task is to manage the courses providing the basic and further training of patent attorneys.

W.P. Radt Foundation Chair

The Chair of Civil Law, Industrial Property Law, Private International Law and Civil Law at the FernUniversität in Hagen is based on a foundation established by an association of patent attorneys. The research activities focus mainly on patent and trade mark law.
